To mark the Alte Pinakothek's 175th anniversary, the Bayerische Staatsgemäldesammlungen has gathered 30 paintings by Lucas Cranach the Elder to create a small exhibition that ranges from the expressive early works by the master himself to high-quality pictures by his successors.

One of the world’s most famous festivals, Oktoberfest runs from late September to the first weekend in October, attracting over five million visitors to Munich and inspiring copycat celebrations throughout the world.

An important part of Bavarian culture, the festival takes place in Theresienwiese (often shortened to Wiesn), near Munich's centre, within easy reach of the Hilton Munich City and Hilton Munich Park hotels.

Visitors to Oktoberfest indulge in raucous revelry, with songs and laughter and traditional Bavarian cuisine and celebrated German beers.
